Kampfar - Heimgang

The Norwegian formation KAMPFAR remains true once more to the their primordial style and delivers raw Pagan Folklore Metal as it is meant to be heard. Piercing riffs, driving drums, and catchy melodies shape Heimgang, but the sceptre can only fully swing with the help of charismatic frontman Dolk, whose unmistakable and unique vocal approach gives the songs the finishing touch.

The dark and yet majestic atmosphere, both clean and harsh, is caught on tape by Rune Joergensen of Silvertone Studio, Norway. Lyrically the album deals with the crossing over into the underwold, as told in Nordic myths and legends. Taake (Fog in english) is one of the best bands that the cold and misty mountains of Norway have ever produced. This their first full-length album is a magnificent piece of music. On the first hand it´s an album weird to the eye: a long-nailed guy appears on the cover, clad in a deep shadow.
the music is very enjoyable and cold at the same time, with enormous –I´d say IMMENSE- melodies, good musical skills, intense vocal lines -including a clean pagan voice that fits perfectly in the music- and all in all fantastic songs. The different tempos are managed with good sense and the guitarwork looms above the musical spectre throughout all the album, without making the interest of the listener decrease. Here you´ll find melodies that will conquer your head and heart.

Sepia - Goodbye Tristesse

Aquí el álbum debut de Sepia, banda formada por los remanentes de la extinta banda gothic metal Mantus y por iniciativa de Martin André Schindler (Black Heaven).

Con nueva discografica y relativamente nuevo sonido, nos ofrecen un trabajo con guitarras algo más distorsionadas que lo que se hizo con Mantus. Se perciben influencias rock / metálicas en las cuerdas, con riffs más fuertes y concisos como en la canción "Kein Morgen". En otro aspecto la voz de Tina se torna natural en clave melancólica, sin forzarse para sacar tonos altos, esto le da un ambiente amigable la música, especialmente en las secciones pausadas de canciones como en "Melancholie" ó "Was bleibt". Algo extraño, pero la canción que ligeramente me recordó a The Birthday Massacre es "Allein", quizás tan solo por el estilo de tocar los teclados. En resumen, si se trata de consolidar en una canción todo el disco debo referirme "Kalt", un tema melancólicamente angustioso, acompañado de guitarras vibrantes y teclados envolvente.

Debo decir que este no es un disco que se pegue a la primera escuchada, pero que sucesivamente te gustará más y más. Si tu ídolos son Epica o After Forever, ni pienses que encontrarás algo parecido aquí, esto me agrada más, algo parecido a Elane, L'ame Inmortelle (Auf deinen Schwingen) y hasta lo nuevo de Asrai.

Gontyna Kry - Krew Naszych Ojcow

Gontyna Kry es un grupo de pagan metal polaco de la ciudad de Koszalin. Fue uno de los primeros grupos polacos de pagan metal en aparecer, siguiendo la estela pionera de Graveland. Al igual que ocurre con éste último, su música se caracteriza por ser un híbrido de black metal y música folk eslava. Sin embargo, el sonido de Gontyna Kry resulta bastante original debido a la relativa abundancia de riffs de estilo thrash en las composiciones. Según el propio grupo, su nombre sería una fórmula en antiguo eslavo que significa «templo de la sangre».
En 2001, nos llego este álbum llamado Krew naszych ojców (La sangre de nuestros padres), que mantenía el estilo del anterior Welowie con composiciones más ambientales y ambiciosas, y un empleo profuso de diversos samples.
